Why Rare Matters to Me
My path into this work is both professional and deeply personal. I live with Marfan syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that has shaped much of my life and perspective. I have undergone multiple major surgeries, including complex spinal fusions and heart surgery, and have navigated chronic pain, uncertainty, and the emotional weight of living in a body that can feel unpredictable.
Because of my medical needs, you may notice that I am lying down or reclined during our sessions. This allows me to manage spinal pain and stay fully present with you. I encourage you to do the same! Wear pyjamas, lay in bed, sit on the floor – whatever you need to do to be as comfy as can be. I believe therapy doesn’t need to look a certain way to be meaningful. What matters most is that you feel supported, seen, and understood in a space that feels real and human.
I am especially passionate about working with individuals in the rare disease and chronic illness community. These experiences can be isolating and difficult to put into words, often holding grief, resilience, identity shifts, and medical trauma all at once. I strive to create a space where you do not have to explain or justify your experience, and where we can gently make sense of what you are carrying while finding ways forward that feel aligned with you.
